Infant to Junior Transition

Dear Parent

Transfer to Junior School – September 2018

Further to your acceptance of a place for your child at this school, we look forward to welcoming your child in September. Meantime, this letter is to inform you of the activities which take place during this term to help children with the transition from Infant to Junior School. These include:

For all children starting in September

  • Tuesday 26th June, 10.15am to 11.30am – “Buddy” scheme where Year 3 children show Year 2 around the school, join the assembly and break-time. Your child will be receiving a letter from their ‘Buddy’ during this week.
  • Friday 6th July, 1.15pm to 2.30pm – moving on day when all children get to spend part of the afternoon with their new class and teacher
  • Tuesday 10th July, 12.00pm to 1.00pm – picnic lunch with their buddies – please could you ensure your child either orders a picnic lunch or brings a packed lunch on this day please.

In addition, for children attending Oakley Infant School

  • Attending some Junior assemblies
  • Junior School staff taking some Infant assemblies
  • Visiting the school during lunch breaks
  • Attending the dress rehearsal for the Junior School Upper School Show.

For all parents of children starting in September

  • Wednesday 27th June, starting at either 2.00pm or 7.00pm – a meeting for parents which I hope you will be able to attend as this provides an opportunity to receive further information about your child joining this school and a ‘Parent Handbook’.

Please also find enclosed a ‘Consent Booklet’. Please can you return the Consent Booklet to the school office no later than Monday 16th July.

I look forward to meeting you soon. However, in the meantime if you have any queries, feel free to contact me or the school office.

Yours sincerely
